We have just officially launched our forum!

We want to know what our visitors and customers are thinking, and what they are telling their friends about us... so we thought we'd provide a place for you to do it.

A quick registration form will give you access to our forum pages at www.locallizard.co.uk/forum where you can post your questions about LOCALLIZARD and our products, or read the questions that others have posted.

We will be looking to continually improve this new forum service so that new visitors can easily get answers to their questions before they purchase, or so that existing customers can voice any concerns they may have in way that will help us to deal with them quickly and efficiently!

Customers of LOCALLIZARD can also request access to the after-sales section of the forum to allow them to ask any questions they may have about their own adverts.

We look forward to helping our visitors become a part of the LOCALLIZARD community.

Today we have completed an upgrade of the advert display system for the Local Lizard site. Having discovered some bugs in the lightbox system we were using to display ads (and some other content on the site) it was decided that a new system was needed.

Thanks to the people over at http://www.highslide.com we are now using a much sleeker advert and content display system, which was implemented relatively quickly and without too much disruption to service.

The Hampshire county has been activated so that businesses in the area can now add their businesses to our directory.

We are expecting to bring a district manager on board for the Portsmouth district to encourage and oversee the development of that area.

We have had significant interest in some of our currently inactive areas following our visit to the Milton Keynes Franchise Show last week. We are confident that we will have more areas opening in the very near future as we bring on a few more representatives to help with oversight and development.

Today three new counties have been made available to allow advertisers to add their businesses in preparation for the respective launches of these new areas.

These new areas are:

Kent, Bristol & Gloucestershire and Hertfordshire

Advertisers can now add their businesses to these areas using the 'Add Your Business' button at the bottom of any page of our website. The three new counties will be made active in the near future, and when they are, any advertisers who have added their businesses will be displayed automatically.

We've launched our latest update to the site to improve the look and function of the site. The new fresher and modern look, with an improved user interface should make the site easier to use and speed up the process of finding the business you are looking for.

We have upgraded the search function with a suggestion tool to help you find the right category and location for the advert you are looking for. As you start typing in the search boxes the system will try to automatically match your search term to one of our categories or locations, which you can select from a drop down box.

We have also introduced a new menu bar at the top of the page. Although at the moment it's function is limited, eventually we will be able to add new buttons and functions for easy access.

Today we received confirmation that the phrases locallizard and LOCALLIZARD are now the trademarked property of Local Lizard Limited.

Our application was processed as at 26th March 2010 and the trademark number is 2543254

The MyLizard section is the latest part of the website to get a visual makeover. The new look will hopefulyl make it easier to use and understand.

Once again we have listened to the feedback of our users and made some important changes to our search facility.

The latest changes see our 'located in' option changed to 'located near' where the user can now select their nearest district to guarantee they will receive the most local results. Simply choose the nearest district (or the county) from the drop-down list and the search will limit results to just that area. If your selection returns no results, simply select a different district nearby and the search filter will be adjusted accordingly.

We've added some extra photos of Lewis' visit to the 2010 Basildon Business Awards earlier this month.

Local Lizard sponsored the event and took Lewis the Lizard along with us to meet the judges and the organisers, as well as a few of the entrants.

Our latest update now allows the pubic to give us feedback on how good the business was that we put you in touch with.

Visitors can now register / log in and leave a star rating and comment about any advert on our system so that we know that we are providing our visitors with quality business connections.

For the protection of our advertisers we will monitor the comments made and remove anything we believe to be offensive or untrue, and may ban any user who continuously provides offensive or falsified reviews.

In our latest update, advertisers with access to the MyLizard login section can now edit their own text and keywords for each of their active adverts.

This update is a move towards giving the customers control over their own adverts, after all, they know their business better than anyone else!

Any amendments will have to go through a moderation process to ensure that there is no inappropriate content, which should take around 48 hours, after which the adjustments will be activated.

We have upgraded the adverts for our page sponsors, which no longer appear in a pop-up window but on a seperate page which can be linked to from the advertisers own web page.

The new page currently shows the same information as the Standard adverts but now shows a map to the advertisers address.

This new system also allows us to add more features, which we plan to do in the new features to give our sponsors the confidence that they have chosen the right business directory to advertise with.

Our new improved site has now been launched! We have made some drastic changes to layout and function which will hopefulyl make finding a business even quicker!

We have done away with the animations that were slowing people down and causing problems in some browsers. Instead you can now go directly from the home page to the category and district you are looking for in just a few clicks.

We have also changed the layout of the advert page to improve compatibility with certain internet browsers and operating systems.

Also, to support our decision to lower our pricing structure (see the pricing page) we've gained the support of a number of national advertisers who are now showing banners and links on a few of our pages.

We are pleased to announce that we have reached our initial milestone of 2000 adverts on the Local Lizard Network!

Although mainly focused in the Essex area at this time, our adverts cover Essex, East London and Cambridgeshire, and we have plans to open extra counties in the very near future.

Our advertisers now cover around 200 categories from accountants to womenswear and everything in between.

We have been very pleased with the response from our customers and the feedback we have received has led us to make some major changes to the site... with a big update release coming soon (ooooh)!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our advertisers for their support and hope that our future updates will add extra value and extra revenue to your respective businesses.

Our next milestone is 2500 adverts, and to help us get there we will give £75 to anyone who recommends a new customer to us.

Due to the overwhelming interest in the Hairdressers and Barbers Category we have decided to split it into two categories.

The change will have an immediate effect and any barbers who were previously in the Hairdressers and Barbers category have automatically been moved.

We have activated logins for all advertisers who have paid for adverts AND provided us with a valid email address. Please contact admin@locallizard.co.uk for your login details.

If you have not provided us with an email address, please send us an email confirming your company name, postcode and order reference and we will set you up an account.

The MyLizard section provides our advertisers with a hit counter for each of their active adverts to show how well they are doing on the site. They can also use the MyLizard pages to add up to 5 special offers which will appear on the district page related to their ads. (A future update to the site will add these special offer to the advert itself to ensure they get seen.)

We have made some new changes to our search facility to provide more accurate results, and a fairer balance of exposure for our advertisers.

Previously our search engine would provide more results if you search for more words, this has now been reversed so that adding extra words to your search phrase will reduce the number of results returned, but hopefully provide results that match your search term more closely.

Also, the search facility will now forward the user directly to the advertiser's page if the search returns a solitary result or a group of adverts in the same single category and district.

Due to recent minor changes to our site we have noticed a significant boost in search engine rankings meaning increased traffic to the site and our clients!

We now have a large number of pages appearing on the first page of Google, Yahoo and Bing searches, many of which link directly to adverts within our database. This kind of exposure in search engines is exaactly what we were aiming for, and gives us a competitive edge against other business directories accross the internet.

There is no time like the present to advertise with Local Lizard and benefit from our search engine optimised, visually appealing and ever growing network.

Today welcomes the launch of video ads on Local Lizard, available to all customers taking a standard ad.

Video ads can be up to 30 seconds long and will be the same size as our standard adverts. Our design team are ready and able to help with the production of slideshows and video storyboards, or you can provide your own.

We have made some dramatic improvements to our search facility which will hopefully make it even easier for users to find what they are looking for.

Although the system still has a few glitches, which we are aware of and working to correct, the new search should provide more results which are more relevent to your search criteria.

We are currently working on a category search addition to the search facility which will match your search against a complete category rather than just individual listings.
